Prof. Heather Linville is a TESOL scholar at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, USA. She earned her Ph.D. in Language, Literacy and Culture from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her research focuses on digital storytelling as translanguaging, advocacy for English learners (ELs), language teacher education, language ideologies, and social justice in multilingual education. Through her scholarship, she promotes innovative, equitable, and inclusive approaches to language education that empower linguistically diverse learners and prepare educators to address the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
Prof. Linville is committed to preparing both TESOL and general education pre-service teachers as advocates for English learners. She has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly publications, including the edited volume Advocacy in English Language Teaching and Learning and the TESOL Zip Guide: Advocating for English Learners, both with Dr. James Whiting. She currently serves as President-Elect of WITESOL and Chair of the Teacher Educator Interest Section of TESOL International. Through her research, leadership, and professional service, Prof. Linville continues to advance innovative language education practices that contribute to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable educational communities.
